What Effect Will Claiming Carers Allowance have on my National Insurance Contributions?

Carers Allowance is Paid Weekly, and each time you are paid the allowance the government will give you a National Insurance Credit to make sure you don't lose your entitlement to other benefits such as:

  1. State Pension
  2. Contribution-based Jobseekers Allowance
  3. Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance
  4. Incapacity Benefit

If you are a married woman who chose to pay reduced-rate National Insurance, you won't get these credits.
